Birthdays come and go. This year, it truly has snuck up on me. To kick off the festivities, my parents drove up from Tulsa this afternoon with a scrumptious dinner and a magnificent red velvet cake in tow. We have indulged ourselves in wonderful food, drank good wine, enjoyed a long walk in the village, delighted in conversation and even created a boy-scout award winning fire in the fire pit.
Its been one of those birthdays that you don't get excited for. Remember the magic birthday's carried as a child? It seems to fade as you grow...Not in a bad way, but it just changes. This year, I just wasn't as into it...I'm not dreading being at the end of my 20's or knocking down 30's door - I just wanted as little as possible. The only thing I asked for my birthday this year was time with friends and family. (oh yeah, and a pair of cowboy boots) I found that the closer they got to town, the more excited I was to celebrate my birthday.
As the clock ticks away, here's to a great year - behind and before me!
